Cobb County has seven dog parks - two in Cobb County parks, one in Kennesaw and two each in Marietta and Smyrna.
Two dogs are allowed for each owner in Smyrna. Three dogs each are OK in Cobb County, Kennesaw and Marietta. No pit bulls or rottweilers are allowed in Marietta's dog parks. More dog park rules are posted on the links to their websites.
Pitner Road Dog Park
2450 Pitner Road, Acworth. Separate play areas?: Yes, two separately fenced play areas for off-leash dogs with about two acres for larger dogs and one acre for smaller dogs. Dog lot amenities: Both sunny spaces and shady, wooded areas with benches for dog owners. Each area has water fountains for dogs and "poop-mit" stations, where owners can grab a bag to pick up after their pets. A picnic shelter with four picnic tables and restroom building overlooks the playground and dog lots. Hours: Daily dawn until dusk but closed each Wednesday morning for maintenance. 770-528-8890
Sweat Mountain Dog Park 4346 Steinhauer Road, Marietta. Separate play areas?: Yes, an area for large dogs and an area for smaller dogs, weighing 30 pounds or less. Dog lot amenities: Benches conveniently located. Almost all shade. Hours: Daily dawn until dusk but closed each Wednesday morning for maintenance. 770-591-3160
KENNESAW Frank Boone Dog Park Swift-Cantrell Park, 3140 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw Separate play areas?: Yes, one each for large and small dogs. Dog lot amenities: This 1.4-acre off-leash dog park has a six-foot-high perimeter fence, doggie water fountains, spots for cleaning up Fido, disposable plastic waste bags and receptacle stations. Lewis Park Dog Park 475 Campbell St., Marietta Separate play areas?: Yes, for small and large breeds. No pit bulls or rottweilers are allowed. Dog lot amenities: Water spigot and three shade structures for people. Pet station with plastic bags, a dog wash station, additional benches, a message board, sodding of bare areas and pressure washing.
Rules for other parks?: Pit bulls, rottweilers and other dogs are permitted in regular city parks but must be on a leash at all times.
