Cohan, who is now out the hospital and recovering at home, underwent the surgery on Nov. 5. She asked friends and family from all over the country to join her in dance wherever they were at 7 a.m. that morning to give her strength.
She said she didn’t have much a problem getting the surgical team to join in.
“No one was against it,” she told Right This Minute. “In fact, I was more nervous about how the flash mob was going to go than how the surgery was going to go.”
She said she chose dance because it “feeds my soul.”
“I’m really best able to tap into my inner soul through dancing,” she said. “Dancing feeds my soul and is also a window into my soul.”
For her flash mob dance, the OB/GYN doctor and faculty member at University of San Francisco Medical Center, chose Beyonce's "Get Me Bodied.”
“The song actually chose me,” she said. “It has such a good beat – like who wouldn’t dance to it.”
Cohan said she is on the road to recovery and humbled by the attention her video has gotten.
“I am doing great,” she said. “I’m feeling very spiritually fulfilled. It’s been an amazing flood of love.”
