Partnership Against Domestic Violence looks at workplace

Roughly 22 percent of all workplace murders among women from 2003 to 2008 involved intimate partner violence.

And that, experts say, is why more focus should be turned to domestic violence in the workplace.

The Partnership Against Domestic Violence will examine that issue during its 2014 Domestic Violence in the Workplace Conference from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the State Bar of Georgia, 104 Marietta St. N.W.

The conference will take a new approach focusing on workplace policies and safety, and the law.

Workshops will be offered to attorneys in addition to the track for managers, human resources professionals and other business representatives. The conference features national speakers and experts from top companies who have created revolutionary domestic violence training and assistance programs within their corporations.

Speakers include: Taylor Tabb, Fatality Review Project coordinator for Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence; Aparna Bhattacharyya, executive director of Raksha; Dena Hong, an attorney for UPS Capital; and Paul Howard, Fulton County district attorney.

The cost is $150 through Tuesday and $175 the day of the event. http://padv.org/events/domestic-violence-in-the-workplace-conference/.
