A Hemet, California, girl spent six months with a congested nose and didn't know why until last weekend.
"About six months ago, her nose just started (running) out of this one side. Green, green, green constantly, and it (stank)," Khloe's mother, Katelyn Powell, told KABC on Tuesday.
Powell said Khloe never said she was in pain, but she was constantly blowing her nose.
The concerned mother took her daughter to three doctors to find out what was making Khloe's nose so runny.
Each doctor thought the cause was a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics.
"We went home, did 10 days of medication, (and it) didn't work," Powell said. "We took her even to the dentist because we thought it was her teeth. Nothing."
Last weekend, Khloe's uncle had enough.
"My brother was like, 'Your nose, it's disgusting. Blow your nose.' And she blows it and out comes the safety pin," Powell said.
The safety pin, which was in Khloe's nose for six months, was black, brittle and 1.5 inches long.
"I almost passed out," Powell said. "It was bigger than her nose."
"We were horrified. I was like, 'Did you put this up there?' She did, but she forgot to tell me."
ABC News reported that Khloe found a bag of safety pins six months ago and wanted to see how far she could put them up her nose.
But Khloe said she learned her lesson. Asked if she would do it again, she said: "No way, not again."
