There has been a lot of talk about the “front lines” recently. Especially the workers who find themselves there.

But a digital lecture this week will dive into the history of front-line workers, including surgeons, nurses, ambulance drivers and more.

The virtual event is the latest in a series of programming from the Atlanta Preservation Center, which has pivoted to digital events since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Previously offering lectures on Atlanta's Healey Building and the revitalization efforts in South Downtown.

This week, author Ted Barris will discuss his book “Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire” and the “long, dynamic history” of first responders.

"Atlanta Preservation Center presents military historian Ted Barris with a multimedia presentation about first-responders in uniform - military surgeons, nurses, ambulance drivers, stretcher-bearers, orderlies, and medical corpsman," according to an Eventbrite post for the event.

The lecture is free to attend.

Next month, the APC will sponsor a digital event featuring a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta's Plaza Theatre.
