Got traveling on your mind?

If you need a passport, you're in luck.

The Atlanta Passport Agency will host a special "Passport Day" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at 230 Peachtree St. N.W., on the 10th floor.

No appointments are needed to apply for a passport, and customers can request routine or expedited service (expedited service is an additional $60 fee).

It makes sense to do it now, although you may face long lines. U.S. citizens traveling on passports that expire in less than six months may be denied airline boarding or be detained upon arrival in certain foreign destinations.

To reduce waiting times on Sept. 10, customers are encouraged to complete applications online and bring their completed, unsigned forms to the event.

More information on how to apply for a U.S. passport, including necessary documents and fees, is also available online. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
