Here’s one race that will help restore a bit of Atlanta history.

The sixth annual Morningside Mile Race and Block Party will be held at noon Sunday. The race starts at the Lanier Boulevard and Virginia Avenue.

So far, about 600 people have registered.

Walk-up - or run-up, if you must - registration is available at Highland Runners, 1393 North Highland Ave., through Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit the restoration of Atlanta Firehouse 19, and the continuing campaign to raise funds for the landmark . The firehouse was saved from demolition and now money is being raised to restore the building. There's damage to the interior of the building from termites and water.

Other activities include Doc Chey’s noodle eating contest at 1:30 p.m. and live music.
