History: Since 1965, Meals on Wheels Atlanta has provided nutritious meals and friendly conversation to seniors who may have otherwise gone hungry. These meals were initially prepared in a small soup kitchen but now the nonprofit operates a full commercial kitchen off I-75 and Northside Drive.

Did you know: Each year, Meals on Wheels Atlanta provides more than 500,000 meals and more than 330 seniors are on a waiting list for the delivery service. As little as an $8 donation can provide two meals. The organization also provides interior and exterior home repairs or maintenance for seniors in need through its Home Repair Services program.

Its motto: "Can you imagine if your parents or grandparents were hungry?"

How you can help: Buy snacks, donate online, or sign up to volunteer. Purchase a bag or gift box of candied pecans or popcorn from Meals on Wheels Atlanta's "Purposeful Gourmet Foods" social enterprise.
