Students at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School may not be able to see Pope Francis as he visits the United States, but their thoughts are with the pontiff.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, students, faculty, parents and supporters will gather on the school’s back field and symbolically welcome the pope. As his plane flies over Georgia, they will have hold up signs, sing and offer prayers. They also plan to release doves into the air, according to the release from school, 2855 Briarcliff Road N.E.

Students, faculty and staff are asked to be in place facing the outdoor stage before 3 p.m. All parents and members of the community are welcome, but must allow plenty of time to sign in at the front office before going to the back field, according to the release.
