Sabrina and Hank Dobbs’ basement is anything but boring.
Stone surrounds the wood bar and a home theater, where the family and their friends watch football and celebrate birthdays. Custom glass doors lead to their personal fitness center, a buff space with Hoist equipment, free weights, a TV and a steam shower that the family uses almost every day.
From those powerhouse spaces, the main level and upstairs offer a softer style guided by designer Linda Castle. For example, the old master bedroom was burgundy and dull, Sabrina said. Now, the soothing gray palette and transitional furniture from designers such as Candice Olson, an HGTV host, have created a luxurious space for reading and relaxing with their longhaired dachshunds, CoCo and Mia.
“You know how some rooms just make you happy? That room makes me happy,” Sabrina said.
