When David and Shelly McIntosh moved into their newly built home in the Summerhour community in Kennesaw earlier this year, they immediately knew they wanted to personalize the space with modern lights, new fixtures and their own style.
“My heart is to make a house a home,” said Shelly. “I love taking a blank canvas and making that personal for our family.”
After living in a rental home for about 10 months following their move from Oklahoma, the McIntoshes moved into their new home with their three children and their dog. They closed on their house on Feb. 14 of this year.
“It was a gift of love to all of us for sure,” said Shelly. “We had really been living in transition, and on Valentine’s Day, getting the gift of feeling like we were home was pretty special.”
Their new home, which they worked with Pulte Homes to build, is slowly coming together as they add their own touches with chandeliers from CB2 and Rejuvenation, drawer pulls from Target and a fresh coat of black paint on the downstairs doors.
“I would say my style is leaning toward the modern,” said Shelly. “I do lean toward minimalist style, but I don’t want it to have a cold feeling. So I’d say I’m a warm modern rather than a cold modern.”
