Are these the most charming neighborhoods in metro Atlanta?

Just in the past couple of years, Decatur has reached a kind of restaurant critical mass. Diners set out for town with either reservations or hopes that they’ll be able to walk into their first choice restaurants. If not, they’re willing to bop around and find a spare table elsewhere. Feeling enchanted when you wake up? Perhaps you live in one of the most charming neighborhoods in the Atlanta area.

Apartment review and search site RentLingo used various criteria to determine which metro Atlanta neighborhoods were the most charming. Analysts gathered data from several sources to gauge how local residents feel about businesses, retail and dining options in each area.

They then came up with the "Charm Index," to rate neighborhoods on their livability. They found the most charming neighborhoods have more boutiques and quaint dining spots.

According to RentLingo, businesses such as Pay Day Loan stores, strip clubs and pawn shops render a neighborhood less charming.

Based on the data, the most charming neighborhoods in Atlanta are:

1. Decatur

2. East Atlanta

3. Downtown

4. Buckhead

5. Emory Village

6. Atlantic Station

7. Virginia Highlands

8. Old Fourth Ward

9. Inman Park

10. Midtown

Notice that the most charming neighborhoods are not necessarily the most expensive.
