The Allins' garden

Kristin and Billy Allin's home garden will be included in the Decatur Garden Tour, which runs Sept. 27 & 28. The Allins use their garden to grow organic produce for their restaurant Cakes & Ale.

A group of Endive lettuce is shown in the Allin family garden. The Allins began growing at home with the intention to help supply fresh organic produce to their restaurant.

An almost ripe okra is shown in the Allin garden. The flourishing of the Allin's garden inspired their next-door neighbors to try growing vegetables as well.

Two black beauty eggplants are shown on the vine in the Allin garden. The 20th annual Decatur Garden Tour will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday; and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
