Every Sunday, the AJC’s Private Quarters takes you inside some of the most dream-worthy homes in the metro Atlanta area. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking back at some of the show-stopping homes that we’ve featured, and this week is all about patios.

Jennifer and Michael Marblestone entertain often, hosting parties and church events, and having outdoor spaces for those gatherings is incredibly helpful. The largest of three decks in Megan and David Sellers’ back yard leads from inside the lake room to the brick patio below. The veranda of Martha and Jean-Francois Morizur’s home looks out over their backyard and pool area. A sofa, chair and coffee table from Wayfair provide seating around the outdoor fireplace, and the fleur-de-lis wood and iron art above the fireplace from Hobby Lobby ties the outdoor decor into the French style of the interior of the home. When Kevin and Latonda Henderson bought their home in 2016, the cement slab that made up the front porch was beginning to crumble away, so they decided to use a brick tile in a herringbone pattern to finish the porch floor. When Leah and Todd Matthews worked with Level Team Contracting and PSB Studio ARCHITECTURE to renovate their home last year, they added an outdoor kitchen area with seating and a fireplace. They like to cook and eat out there, and they often set food out by the fireplace when they entertain. Bob and Ali Van Dillen knew when they moved into their home that they’d want to create an outdoor living space so that they could enjoy the fact that their home backed up to a lake. As an event planner, Sherry Habif loves having multiple spaces in her home in which she can entertain. Chairs from Target and a fire pit from HomeGoods make the patio off of the kitchen of Latonda and Kevin Henderson’s home a great place to relax. In fact, it’s one of Kevin’s favorite places to unwind at the end of the day. The floor, tiled in Peregalli Azul porcelain tile from Floor & Decor, gives the space a polished look.
