This holiday season, there will be a new place to cut a Figure 8.

Skate Atlantic Station, a new 10,000 square foot open-air rink will open in the Westside retail district on Nov. 15. The rink, which will take over District Street between 17th1/2 and 18th streets, will be part of a family-friendly holiday entertainment lineup that includes a tree lighting and parade on Nov. 23 .

Operated American Skating Entertainment Centers -- which builds winter-like retreats at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Galleria shopping center in Houston -- the Atlantic Station rink will require 400 tons on refrigeration and will need to be resurfaced daily by a full-sized Zamboni.

Skate Atlantic Station joins a growing list of temporary skating surfaces in the metro Area, including The Rink at Piedmont Park and the boutique Astor Rink at the St. Regis Hotel.

Tickets for the Skate Atlantic Station will be $13 for adults and $10 for children under 5, seniors, military and students.  The rink will be open through February 2014.  Hours and more details can be found at www.atlanticstation.com
