Santa Speedo Run

The streets of Midtown Atlanta were packed Saturday with runners dressed in Speedos for the Santa Speedo Run. Check out photos from the big event.

Santa Speedo runners passed famous landmarks such as The Margret Mitchell House, One Atlantic Center, The Woodruff Arts Center and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta during the run.

Approximately 300 runners took their positions at the starting line for a scantily clad 1.5 mile scramble through Midtown Atlanta. The Atlanta Santa Speedo Run has raised thousands of dollars for local charities over the years. Past recipients have included Bert's Big Adventure, Camp Twin Lakes and CHRIS Kids. The Santa Speedo Run was originally started in Boston in 2000 by five friends in search of a little holiday fun. It spread to Atlanta in 2009.

Hundreds of people grabbed their best Speedos...

and headed to Midtown Saturday.

It was that time of the year again; time for the fourth annual Santa Speedo Run.

Nearly 300 runners signed up to take part in the 1.5K race around the streets of Atlanta.

The Santa Speedo Run is a fundraiser. Each participant was asked to raise at least $250.

This year, Cure Childhood Cancer is on the receiving end of the fundraising effort.

The Santa Speedo Run began in Boston in 2000. It started in Atlanta in 2009.
