Polar Bears wake up to a snow day at San Diego Zoo

As you can see on the San Diego Zoo's live Polar Cam , an average day in the life of the huge bears is rarely very wintery.

More popular and trending stories

But Friday was a whole different kind of day - a snow day.

The zoo’s three polar bears - Kalluk, Tatqiq and Chinook - woke up to 26 tons of snow to play in.

A zookeeper said there were treats hidden in the snow to make it even more stimulating for the bears.

Public donations paid for the snow day.
