LANCE ARMSTRONG'S DOPING: The cyclist admitted to Oprah in January that, after years of denying it, had in fact taken performance-enhancing drugs during the six year period he won seven Tour de France titles.

BEYONCE LIP-SYNCS: Beyonce admitted lip-syncing during the Presidential Inauguration in January, saying that she was nervous about performing a difficult song in the cold weather. She redeemed herself in February by singing -- live -- during the Superbowl Halftime Show.

DENISE AND CHARLIE'S FEUD: At one time, not long ago, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards seemed like the poster children for the way to successfully stay friends after a divorce. Richards even got temporary custody of Sheen's twins with Brooke Mueller after Mueller went to rehab. But things changed, and Sheen has been posting tweets of late slamming Richards for not letting him see their kids, which she denies.

TEEN MOM SEX TAPE: Farrah Abraham, a star of MTV's "Teen Mom," made headlines for starring in the adult film "Backdoor Teen Mom." But as they say, any publicity is good publicity -- Abraham was Google's most searched reality star in 2013.

THE TWERK SEEN ROUND THE WORLD: Miley Cyrus set tongues -- including her own -- wagging after a provocative performance with Robin Thicke at August's MTV Video Music Awards. Cyrus later got into a war of words with singer Sinead O'Connor, who wrote "You will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped." Cyrus responded by accusing O'Connor of having mental health issues.

MARINO'S LOVE CHILD: Former football star Dan Marino admitted in January to fathering a child with a former CBS TV producer, seven years after the fact.

ANTHONY WEINER IN HOT WATER: Anthony Weiner tried to make a political comeback this year with his bid for the New York mayor's seat. He was ahead in the polls until it come out that he continued sexting with women even after resigning as senator for the same indiscretions in 2011. In addition, Weiner had to withstand the embarrassment of his online name, Carlos Danger, being revealed.

San Diego Chargers player Manti Te'o became the victim of a bizarre Internet hoax after an acquaintance posed as a woman Te'o considered his girlfriend and who he later said had died.

Alec Baldwin was dropped from MSNBC after a rant against a paparazzo during which he used a gay slur.

"X Factor" judge Simon Cowell kept busy during the show's hiatus, having an affair with his good friend's wife Lauren Silverman, who divorced her husband and is now pregnant with Cowell's child.

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Brandi Glanville got into hot water for a racist comment she made about co-star Joyce Giraud, as well as a Twitter feud with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian's current wife, LeAnn Rimes.

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice and her husband Giuseppe 'Joe' Giudice appeared in court to face additional charges of bank fraud and loan application fraud in addition to original charges of defrauding lenders, illegally obtaining mortgages and other loans as well as allegedly hiding assets and income during a bankruptcy case.

Actress and dancer Julianne Hough took heat for dressing in blackface to portray a character from "Orange Is the New Black" during a Halloween party.

Selena Gomez dropped the F-bomb and stormed offstage after an equipment malfunction during a show in Los Angeles.

Singer Justin Bieber was a scandal magnet in 2013, taking heat for urinating into a mop bucket during a stop at a restaurant, allegedly consorting with prostitutes in Brazil and stepping on the Argentinian flag during a performance there (he denies wrongdoing). He recently claimed he was retiring in 2014.

Kylie Jenner upset some Twitter users after saying she was "bipolar" for changing her hair color so many times.

Demi Lovato opened up about her past as a drug addict, admitting to smuggling drugs onto planes and confirming she pressured ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas to smoke pot.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen caused a media firestorm after admitting that she used a racial slur in the past. Deen said she was not a racist and was heartbroken by the controversy that began with her own deposition in a lawsuit. Deen was dropped by the Food Network and as a celebrity endorser by Smithfield Foods.

Singer Cee-Lo Green was cleared of a sexual assault charge brought against him by a woman, but still faces charges of giving ecstasy to the woman during a dinner in Los Angeles.

Rapper Lil Wayne came under fire after it was reported that he stepped on the American flag while shooting a music video. He claims the move was unintentional.

Nude photos of former Disney star Dylan Sprouse were leaked in December. The star admitted they were of him and apologized.

Owen Wilson announced he was expecting his second child -- with his married former personal trainer.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian remained in the news throughout the year after allegations of Odom's cheating and crack cocaine use went public (Odom was also arrested for a DUI earlier in the year). The couple is reportedly living apart, though they have not officially filed for divorce.

Paris Jackson made headlines after she was hospitalized following a suicide attempt in June.

Miami Dolphin player Richie Incognito came under fire after teammate Jonathan Martin revealed Incognito sent him racist and threatening text messages. Martin later quit the team.
