About 42 million people will be crowding the nation's highways and byways this Thanksgiving, AAA announced this week.

That number does not take into account the number of people who are traveling by air or another means like the train.
A total of nearly 47 million people will be leaving home, traveling more than 50 miles this year.
And while the roads will be crowded, the good news is, it may not be as expensive to embark on the road trip thanks to falling gas prices.
The price at the pump is at its lowest Thanksgiving level since 2008, AAA has found.
The national average is about $2.07, but you may see lower prices on your travels, AAA reported.
