MARTA sets Thanksgiving holiday schedules, route changes

MARTA has announced an adjusted holiday schedule for later this week, with some buses rerouted to accommodate special events such as the Thanksgiving Half Marathon and 5K Run Thursday morning.

On Thanksgiving Day, the transit agency will operate on a Sunday schedule, with trains running every 20 minutes on all lines. However, MARTA will provide early service, with trains starting an hour earlier, at 5 a.m., on all lines to serve riders going to the Half Marathon/5K events beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Turner Field.

Riders are advised to take Blue or Green line trains to the Georgia State Station and then walk south on Capitol Avenue to Turner Field. Also, MARTA will adjust bus service in the area because of street closures for the run. Affected routes are Nos. 1, 2, 12, 16, 21, 27, 32, 37, 49, 55, 74, 99, 110, 155 and 186.

More information about the Half Marathon and 5K Run is available at the event website.

Also on Thanksgiving Day, bus route Nos. 25 and 110 will be rerouted for the Macy’s Tree Lighting, 7 to 10 p.m. at Lenox Square Mall.

On Friday, rail and bus service will operate using a Saturday schedule.

For more information about service changes, visit MARTA's website or call Customer Service at 404-848-5000. The Customer Information Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Lost and Found office at Five Points Station and the Reduced Fair Office at Five Points and the MARTA headquarters building will be closed Thursday and open from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
