Jessica Kirk-Meyers, 29, of Virginia-Highland, looked at teen pop stars online and in teen magazines to get a feel for the look. "You'd spend about 30 or 35 bucks," said Kirk-Meyers, "if you already have a good pair of shoes or a skirt. ... You really can find most of the stuff in teen sections, which usually tend to be less expensive."

Key elements are the short denim skirt, flashy tights, metallic shoes, microphone and a major attitude. Kirk-Meyers found the shirt and belt in the Target teen section. Jewelry is from Claire's Boutique. Jessica Simpson shoes are from Nordstrom. Pink fishnets from Party City. Jean skirt from the Gap. (Microphone prop provided by the AJC.)

The big key, said Kirk-Meyers, is a lot of pink, metallic and cute girly stuff.

A sassy pair of tights, lots of hairspray and preferably blonde hair also help.

The good thing about this costume, said Kirk-Meyers, is that it could be any teen pop star. "It's just such an easy and affordable Halloween get-up for a girl to pull off, because most gals all have some of that garb in their closets already," she added.
