Lakisha A. Beauford designed and modeled an Atlanta tornado costume using 8 yards of fabric, a zipper, tulle and some plastic leaves.

Beauford chose the fabric because the vertical stripes made it resemble a building. The tulle represents the tornado and the leaves are whipping around her.

While a creative take on the March tornado that ripped through downtown Atlanta, Beauford said the costume isn't great for maneuvering.

Beauford is a junior at Grady High School and part of UrbanCouture, a design program taught by Vincent Martinez.

Beauford said the most tedious part of building the costume was the zipper.
