Aflac’s iconic spokesduck is taking wing to New York City next month, debuting as a new balloon feature in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Columbus-based insurance company said Tuesday.

Macy’s said the duck will appear in a 35-foot-tall feature called a “balloonicle,” which is sort of a motorized, balloon vehicle.

Aflac, which sells products like cancer and disability insurance, will advertise during the telecast of the parade, said Laura Kane, an Aflac spokeswoman.

Macy’s also will sell Aflac duck holiday plush toys in more than 670 stores across the country, with proceeds benefiting childhood cancer research and treatment at hospitals nationwide, the companies said.
