Love animals? There's a camp for you this summer. It ranges from working with cats, dogs and birds to watching dolphins at the Aquarium or animals at the zoo. Some veterinarians also offer summer camps.

Summer Camp H2O
Weekly sessions June through July
Campers will be engaged in fun and exciting activities while exploring the wondrous ocean world, all within the walls of the Georgia Aquarium. Included are all aquarium galleries and shows. Summer Camp H2O hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. each day. There are three camp themes, based on grade level. For instance, “Where in the World are the Waddlesworths?” is for third and fourth graders. (Grades 3-4). Participants journey through Georgia Aquarium with the Waddlesworths, the newest penguin family, and learn about their unique expedition from South Africa to Atlanta.

Weekly camps that run in June and July
The summer camp is for young animal lovers that focuses on humane education. Participants explore the relationship between humans and animals and leave with a sense of responsibility towards all living creatures and a solid education of responsible pet ownership. A day at camp will include animal education, humane education, team building, animal interaction and lots of fun. They also get a behind-the-scenes experience at PAWS Atlanta by learning all about what the organization does to help animals and pet lovers.

Safari Day Camp: Summer Session
Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave. S.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30315
May 31 through Aug. 5
This camp is for children who like a walk on the wild side at Zoo Atlanta. The daily camps offer hands-on learning, nature discovery and wildlife appreciation. They take tours around the zoo, they get to meet animal ambassadors and have games and crafts. Each week has a different theme.

Camp O.P.P.

Week-long day camps from June through July
Our Pal’s Place offers week long camp programs where youth participate in activities that teach kindness and compassion to the animals. The programs are for various class levels, beginning at rising second graders up to rising ninth graders. There is an intern/ camp counselors for rising 10th graders to seniors. Each day starts in the Learning Center of Our Pal’s Place with interactive activities and moves to hands-on experience with the dog and cat residents in the pet adoption facility to practice what was learned. Throughout each week, campers meet professionals working in animal-related fields and learn how they can help animals themselves. Campers will have plenty of hands-on activities and opportunities to help the orphan dogs and cats.All proceeds from camp fees go to housing homeless dogs and cats.

Animal Adventures camp at Kennesaw State University

June 27 through July 1
Participants at the Animal Adventures camp at Kennesaw State’s Summer University will meet with representatives of a local nature center, who will visit the camp twice during the week. They will have a variety of creatures including reptiles, bugs and mammals. There will also be virtual field trips, whole and small group instruction, games and more. The camp is for children in the first through third grades.
