The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s Uptown Rhodes Race 5K is getting new date and name.

The popular event will now be held on Halloween weekend, instead of in November, and is being renamed the Uptown Rhodes Race at the Haunted Castle.

It’s fitting to also dress the part. Participants may also wear costumes to the event, which will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 at 1516 Peachtree St. N.W. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Trust.

The course circles around the Ansley Park golf course before returning to Rhodes Hall for the finish. “Pet pit stops” will be located along the route to provide dogs with drinking water and treats.

After the race, there will be a post-race party featuring a costume contest and an array of prizes, barbecue sandwiches, delicious treats and refreshing drinks. Participants will receive race t-shirts and goodie bags. Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers and the top three male and female racers in each age group, as well as first stroller and first canine finisher. Following the race, participants can also tour the “haunted castle,” also known as Rhodes Hall.

Registration is $35 until Oct. 10 and after that, $40 thereafter. Race day registration is also available.
