Garrett Popcorn Shops will open its second metro location on Friday at the Mall of Georgia in Buford.

The Chicago-based gourmet popcorn shop sold its first popped kernel in 1949.

Lucky for some popcorn addicts, the store opens just in time to buy snacks for the Super Bowl. Atlanta Falcons fullback Patrick DiMarco and other celebrities will be on hand for the opening, which begins at 4:30 p.m.

The store is located on the lower level near J.C. Penney.

Football fans can get an Atlanta pro football-themed one-gallon tin of the Garrett Mix for $19.49 and treat bags for $1 each. (Footnote here: this deal is limited to one tin and one bag per person.)

Garrett is also adding a few limited edition combinations available online and in the stores through February:

  • Spicy CheeseCorn blends freshly melted sharp cheddar cheese with cayenne pepper and chili powder.
  • The Lover's Mix is a sweet combination of Dark Chocolate Covered CaramelCrisp and Spicy CheeseCorn.

In addition to Georgia, Garrett has shops in Las Vegas, New York, Detroit and Chicago.
