History: For more than three decades, the Furniture Bank has collected and delivered gently used furniture to individuals and families who were coming out of homelessness, escaping domestic violence or others in need.

Did you know: The organization also helps homeless veterans, offering them jobs, scholarships and training on how to drive a truck or operate a forklift.

Its motto: At the Furniture Bank, "we recycle gently-used furniture from the community and give it to individuals and families who need it most – and we turn houses into homes."

How you can help: Furniture Bank is accepting beds, couches, dinette sets and mattresses. For Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Gwinnett counties, there is a free pick-up for furniture donations left outside and a $20 fee if items are left inside. For other counties, there is a $50 pick-up fee. Financial contributions support the cost of operating a warehouse and picking up furniture donations. Volunteers are needed to assist clients in picking out furniture. Household items are needed for kitchen kit and linen drives.
