It’s official. Popeyes’ chicken sandwich — which ignited competition with Atlanta’s Chick-fil-A fans and sparked unbelievably long lines — will be back this weekend.

Popeyes announced Monday that the sandwich would return to restaurants beginning Sunday, Nov. 3. The restaurant chain has been working to bring the sandwich back permanently, the press release states.

The brand even sparked a debate online over which fast food spot served the best chicken sandwich.

Although Wendy's, Bojangles, and Shake Shack all entered the battle, the main competition seemed to be between Popeyes and Chick-fil-A, the AJC reported in August.

Although Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has been famous for its chicken sandwich for decades, Popeyes’ version threatened to take the top spot.

Twitter users were continuing the war Monday.

Last week, Popeyes began hiring extra workers in anticipation of the sandwich’s return, hoping to avoid the long lines that often wrapped around blocks and kept people in the drive-through for hours.
