Savor the season with a festive punch combining the fall flavors of cranberry, apple, nutmeg and clove — and that quintessential autumn spirit, whiskey.
Punch Bowl Social’s Plymouth Rocked is a Thanksgiving-focused punch featuring a blend of house-made spiced cranberry syrup, Teakoe apple tea, lemon juice, orange bitters and Old Forester bourbon. If you don’t live near this cocktail bar and bowling alley, though, don’t worry — you’ll still be able to make this party-sized punch yourself for any holiday entertaining you’ll be doing.
Your guests will be very thankful, indeed.
Plymouth Rocked
(One part is the equivalent of one liter of liquid.)
6 parts Old Forester Bourbon
1 part lemon juice
2 parts spiced cranberry syrup (see below)
4 parts Teakoe’s White Pear Fuji Apple tea (or white tea, steeped medium strength)
For each serving, add two dashes of Fee Bros. Orange Bitters. Garnish with expressed orange peel.
Spiced Cranberry Syrup
1 lb. frozen cranberries
1 lb. sugar
1 handful of whole cloves (enough to sit fill the inside of your palm)
2 whole pieces of nutmeg
2 cups of water
Wrap the nutmeg and the cloves in cheesecloth and tie with kitchen twine. Cook all ingredients over medium heat until simmering, about 45 minutes. Remove from heat and extract nutmeg and whole clove. Strain the syrup through a cheese cloth, bottle and allow to chill.
