The martini is arguably one of the best-known cocktails, but as it’s evolved over the years, many drinkers now might not realize it originated as a gin concoction with vermouth. Many martinis now feature vodka rather than gin and have taken on additional flavors such as apple, peach or even chocolate.
That’s the case with Italian restaurant Brio’s Bella Pesca Martini, which asks for vodka and peach schnapps. It’ll be a sweeter version of the classic martini and is garnished with a strawberry, rather than an olive. But count on one element of this cocktail to stay true to form, however: you’ll be sipping it just like Carrie Bradshaw in a long-stemmed martini glass.
Bella Pesca Martini
2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. peach schnapps
1/2 oz. peach puree
1/2 oz. lemon-lime soda
2 fresh strawberry slices
Shake vodka, peach schnapps and peach puree with ice. Strain into a martini glass.
Top with lemon-lime soda. Garnish with 2 strawberry slices and serve.
