Mockingbirds -- two ounces of fierce avian bravado -- have begun their annual spring offensive in yards and neighborhoods.

The gray and white songbirds will attempt to chase away anyone or anything that invades the space around their nest.

What’s more, scientists say mockingbirds learn to recognize humans that they feel are threats.

A Boca Raton woman learned this the hard way last summer.
