My Style: Vincent Martinez

Vincent Martinez is a 42-year-old teacher from Grant Park. He teaches at Grady High School, where he founded and directs the UrbanCouture fashion program.

Martinez is wearing a vintage brown, pinstripe blazer. Shirt and T-shirt are Project E, one of Martinez's favorite designers. "They are locally based, though you can find their designs in the finest stores nationwide." Also, jeans are Diesel and "fit great, wear well." Socks are H&M, because "they carry the coolest socks." And the shoes? "Prada, need I say more?"

Martinez says his style is classic and contemporary. Martinez says Atlanta style is "... upgrading itself. ... Atlantans are finding a balance between looking sophisticated and feeling relaxed."

FAVORITE STORES: Bloomingdale's, Barneys, H&M. FAVORITE LABELS: Project E, Gucci, Dior, Diesel. His best finds are Vintage Gucci and Hermes ties for $2 at a local thrift store and, more recently, mink cuff links. He has a weakness for cuff links, especially with bling.

His biggest splurge is body art. "At 41, I got my first tattoo: a bouquet of gardenias with a luna moth and a scorpion. Later, an Indigo bunting perched on my back, followed by a large Jesus a few months after, for my dad who passed away. The art of tattooing has become fashionable and has gained social acceptance, but choose wisely and meaningfully (as I did). You wear them for life."

A big revelation: "When I was developing my fashion design program, UrbanCouture, I realized that I should dress the part, so I said goodbye to sneakers and hello to Gucci loafers!"
