REVAMPED VINTAGE

Local jewelry designer Cathy Schiff of Vintage by Cathy searches for antique items, vintage jewelry and other treasures that she can remake into wearable art. She researches each piece, sending it off to new owners with a written history. The focal point of this necklace is an unsigned brooch by famed mid-century costumer jeweler Albert Weiss. Its former owner had received it as a birthday gift from her husband in the mid-1950s. The original smoky gray rhinestones are intact. It costs $225 at www.vintagebycathy.com. Custom designs are also available.
