If you’re itching to do so some exploring, you can now see Georgia’s great outdoors from the comfort (and safety) of home.

The Georgia Conservancy's new digital programming, Untrips From Home Adventure Series, brings the outdoors inside.

Around the “virtual campfire” participants can virtually explore with the conservancy’s stewardship trips director Clark Harrison.

The next "untrip" will be to Ebenezer Creek. From noon-1 p.m. on Monday, May 11, participants can learn about "Georgia's best example of a blackwater stream ecosystem."

"Though we won't be physically exploring its bottomland forests, stands of cypress knees, and hidden channels during this get-together, we encourage you to join us as we share both the beauty and human history of Ebenezer Creek," according to the conservancy.

Participants will learn about the history of the Effingham County waterway, the efforts to protect it and the tragedy that happened there in 1864 when hundreds of freed slaves drowned at the site when fleeing Confederate soldiers.

Register by noon on May 10 to receive a link to participate.
