Lawrenceville wants “#TheDTL” to be a little less on the down low, which is why the Gwinnett County city has launched a new website and Instagram page to attract more visitors to its downtown district.

The website is divided into “events,” “shops” and “dine” sections to guide visitors through all downtown has to offer.

So far, the Instagram page has shared shots of the Aurora Theatre, the historic courthouse and “taco Tuesday” at Strange Taco Bar.

“So much fun happening in DTL 🤗 check out our new website to stay up to date,” an Instagram caption on an aerial video of downtown reads.

Lawrenceville’s population has continued to rise in recent years. In 2018, Census Bureau data estimated about 30,000 lived in Lawrenceville, the Gwinnett County seat.

Last summer, Lawrenceville’s Aurora Theatre broke ground on a new $31 million expansion as part of a downtown revitalization project.

"We have a comprehensive plan that is moving the city forward for people who want to come experience what it's like to live and play in Gwinnett County," a city spokeswoman Lisa Sherman previously told the AJC.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
