Zhao Mai works as a teacher in the city of Anshui in China's Guizhou province and sometimes works so much that she doesn't have time to cook for herself. On top of that, she only sees her husband, 27-year-old Yin Yunfeng, once a year because he is deployed as a soldier with the Chinese army. But Yin has made sure she has a reminder of him every day.

Before leaving, Yin cooked 12 months worth of dinners for his hard-working wife. According to Metro UK, Yin's cooking marathon included more than 1,000 dumplings, 150 litres of his wife's favourite noodle soup and dozens of other hearty meals all individually packaged, which he then stashed in their freezer and the freezers of nearby friends and family. But his kind gesture didn't stop there.

He also hid various sweet treats around the house along with love notes that he would reveal one at a time through phone calls and letters. Revealing her first treat in a letter home, Yin wrote: 'Here is your first surprise. You can find a bag of raisins at the back of the sofa in the living room.'

Zhao is touched by her love-struck soldiers romantic moves.
