One of South Carolina’s favorite literary sons, Pat Conroy, will take on a new role as an editor at large for Story River Books, a new Palmetto-state fiction series to be published by the University of South Carolina Press. While not all of the stories will be set in South Carolina, the majority of them will. But the stories themselves will be diverse and unexpected, many from up-and-coming writers who will be working directly with Conroy. It’s fitting then, that Conroy, whose work pulls much inspiration from the people and the landscape of his home state, will be the editor of the series. Who knows, when the series launches in spring 2014, it may give rise to the next “Prince of Tides?”
