Charis Books & More is hosting a virtual story hour daily

The metro Atlanta book store is hosting a virtual story hour for young readers

The history of Charis Books & More in Atlanta

At Charis Books & More, one of the oldest independent bookstores in the South, gathering as a community is a pillar of their business.

Amind the coronavirus outbreak, Charis has continued the community gatherings in a virtual fashion.

Every weekday at 3:30 p.m., the store — which just celebrated one year in its Decatur space, where it moved after more than 40 years in Little Five Points  — has been using Facebook Live to host a virtual story time.

Each day’s event has a different theme, from fairy tales to families, birds and feathers or things to do while stuck at home.

You can tune in on Charis' Facebook page or catch up on the already recorded videos here.

Charis is currently closed, but still accepting orders.

“We appreciate your continued support; every sale helps us continue to pay our booksellers while we are closed,” the store wrote in a Facebook post.

Charis has also partnered with the audio book company, Libro.FM, which will give new sign-up fees to Charis.

“It's a wonderful way to support us while also staying safely at home,” Charis wrote.
