Brendan O'Connell, the 'Warhol of Wal-Mart'

Brendan O'Connell, an Atlanta native who has become the "Warhol of Wal-Mart, " will stage a one-man show at Fay Gold Gallery of his curious portraits of life inside the big box store.

Brendan O'Connell met with cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the Tanglewood concert venue in Massachusetts.

"Checkout," a painting by Brendan O'Connell, captures the outlines of a trip past the cashier at Wal-Mart, though the details are indistinct.

"Everyday Vegas," is another in a series of scenes at Wal-Marts around the country, painted by Brendan O'Connell.

"Coke" is a painting of a rack of Coca-Cola products by Brendan O'Connell.

Atlanta native Brendan O'Connell jumped into the limelight earlier this year when he was profiled by the New Yorker, and then interviewed on the Stephen Colbert show about his Walmart paintings. O'Connell's wife, landscape painter Emily Buchanan, joined him in the green room on the Colbert set.
