The Atlanta Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit will hold its first Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 19 .

The hunt is being held jointly with the Atlanta Police Foundation and The Friends of Mounted Patrol.

The idea is to give the community an opportunity to get to know the officers and the horses in the mounted patrol unit as well as see the stables and training facility. The event will be held at 1001 Cherokee Ave.

Hunters are asked to bring their own baskets.

The Atlanta Police Foundation restored the mounted unit to Atlanta by providing start-up costs for the stables and training area as well as buying horses. There is also a Mounted Patrol Foster Parent Program where individuals and businesses can sponsor one of the mounted patrol horses.
