Atlanta Humane Society has rescheduled its annual Run for the Rescues event for this summer after the coronavirus caused the organization to postpone the event.

The 2020 Run for the Rescues 5K and Fun Run will now take place Saturday, June 13 at Suwanee Town Center Amphitheater in Gwinnett County.

"Join us as we run for the rescues in Suwanee! A Georgia SPCA favorite, this event is now being run by the Atlanta Humane Society. Join us as we support animals in need at this Peachtree Qualifier," read the event description.

The race, in which dogs are welcome, serves as a qualifier for the 2021 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Registration fees are non-refundable, however, people who registered for the event when it was scheduled for March 21 can choose to get a full refund, donate their registration fee to AHS or remain in the race.

The 5K, which is timed, will begin on Main Street in front of the library at 9:15 a.m. Registration is $25 and increases to $30 after May 29. Participants will receive a T-shirt and runner's bag.

The one-mile Fun Run will also start in front of the library on Main Street, but will begin 45 minutes earlier than the 5K at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $15 and increases to $20 after May 29. Participants will receive a T-shirt, runner's bag and a medal.
