Burnece Walker Brunson is 101 years old, and can still show her school spirit by shaking pom-poms.

Brunson was a member of Tennessee State University's cheerleading squad from 1934-1935, according to Fox News. She was honored at the school's homecoming this year, serving as the co-grand marshal.

The school also has created a scholarship in her name.

According to Brunson, cheerleading was simpler back in her times, mainly consisting of cheers with no flips or pyramid formations.

Brunson's school spirit remains strong, even after all of these years. She told WKRN, "Tennessee State is in my blood."
