IPA drinkers rejoice. Atlanta’s own SweetWater Brewing Company has been named the coolest brewery in Georgia. Trips Discover, a platform for travel ideas, recently released a list of each state’s coolest brewery.

The Atlanta hotspot has more than 23 brews available in their taproom, including the popular 420 Extra Pale Ale, Hazy IPA and Glacial India Pale Cold Ale. SweetWater has been making beer for Georgia drinkers since 1997.

“What started as a pipe dream of two college buddies has turned into a dream job full of great adventures and lip-smackin’ beers,” the company said on their website. “What would you expect from a couple of boys with more of a hankering for beers than for books.”

While SweetWater is one of the most popular local breweries by volume of sales alone, Trips Discover focused on another aspect when they picked the titan of IPA beverages.

“While many states boast breweries with a massive following, we tried to pick the coolest out of the bunch, those with something truly unique to offer beer fans,” Trips Discover said in their list.

“The 50 breweries on this list range from tried and true favorites to up-and-comers, all of which offer a list of destination-worthy beers. You can grab a cold pint at any one of these breweries and you’re guaranteed to be spoiled for choice with incredible beer options, from classic IPAs and ales to seasonal brews with locally sourced ingredients.”

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
