Former WSB-TV news anchor Jovita Moore passed away from cancer in October 2021. While the news shocked the Atlanta community, her legacy will live on in many ways — including through a new college scholarship.

The Jovita Moore HBCU Undergraduate Scholarship was created by the Jaguar Foundation of Atlanta, reported WSB-TV.

Aliyah Beal, was the first recipient of the new scholarship. She was recognized at the Jaguar Foundation of Atlanta’s 14th annual Atlanta Achievement Awards on Sunday night. The event had been hosted by Jovita Moore for more than a decade before her passing.
