Minor League Baseball announced on Wednesday that 96 of its teams, including the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate Gwinnett Stripers, will participate in a Marvel Entertainment series.
The new series, “Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond,” is part of a three-year partnership between one of the most well-known storytelling brands and minor league baseball. The series will run during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 baseball seasons.
Participating MiLB teams will host Marvel Super Hero-themed games during the campaign, wearing in-game special-edition Marvel Super Hero branded jerseys and hosting other Marvel-themed activities and promotions.
“MiLB’s new partnership with Marvel Entertainment brings together two storied brands who create memories that are passed down from generation to generation,” Kurt Hunzeker, Major League Baseball’s vice president of Minor League Business Operations, said at the program’s unveiling, which took place at the “Marvel: Universe of Super-Heroes” exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.
“The possibilities with this partnership are endless and we look forward to some incredibly creative content, merchandise and promotions.”
