During last nights’ MTV VMA awards, Lizzo was one of many lucky winners — for her video “About Damn Time.” She used the platform to respond to derogatory comments about her weight made recently by comedian Aries Spears.

Over the weekend, a video of Spears — who’s best known from the 90s sketch comedy show “MADTV” — surfaced, in which he shared his thoughts on Lizzo and her weight. Spears referred to the Grammy winner as the “poop shaped emoji.”

“She’s got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off,” he said in part in the Instagram video below.

Fellow comedians came to Lizzo’s defense, with many having a few choice words for Spears. Mike Epps, comedian and star of the Netflix hit “The Upshaws,” responded to Spears saying, “He is a straight up b*tch and needs his a** whooped look at his skin.”

Lizzo herself had been silent on the matter. Sadly, the start is used to online hate over her weight. Earlier this year, she shared a tearful video about racial and fat-phobic comments on her music video “Rumors” with rapper Cardi B.

Last night, the songstress stunned in a black dress, and accepted her award with confidence and appreciation for her fans.

“You know what, I’m not going to say nothing,” she said before explaining why she’s been silent. “They be like, ‘Lizzo, why don’t you say something? Why don’t you clap back? Why don’t you clap back? Because, b****, I’m winning,” she added, holding up her award, as the audience’s cheers grew louder.
