From Queen to Snoop Dogg, here are 9 artists who have never won a Grammy

Fresh off the heels of the Oscars, the 64th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, and will honor some of the year’s best recordings and artists with a night full of glitz and glamor.

While there were some noticeable snubs in the list of Grammy nominees for 2022, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for those artists. Many of the most well-known musicians in history have never won the award.

From Queen to Snoop Dogg, here are nine iconic artists that have never taken home the golden gramophone:

Abba

Everyone’s favorite Swedish pop group received their first Grammy nomination this year for their comeback album “I Still Have Faith In You,” after nearly 50 years of making music.

Despite the fact that the group has never taken home the prestigious award, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 and their hit “Dancing Queen” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015.

Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton, country singer and “The Voice” judge, has been nominated for eight Grammys but has never won one. He most recently lost to Willie Nelson for best country solo performance at the 62nd annual awards ceremony in 2020.

Busta Rhymes

Trevor Smith Jr., better known as Busta Rhymes, has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards since 1996, but has yet to win. In 2011, he received two nominations for best rap performance and best rap song, but he was defeated by Kanye West, now known as Ye, in both categories.

Diana Ross

Legendary singer Diana Ross has never won a Grammy. Her first nominations was at the 7th annual awards ceremony in 1964 for “Baby Love,” and she was nominated nearly every year from 1970 to 1982 without a win. Ross did, however, receive a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy in 2012.

Jimi Hendrix

In 1970, Hendrix received his only Grammy nomination for his rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” in the category of best contemporary instrumental performance, but lost to Henry Mancini’s “Theme From ‘Z’ And Other Film Music.” Sadly, the influential artist died later that year.

In 1992, the Recording Academy gave Hendrix a lifetime achievement award.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry, pop phenomenon and current judge on “American Idol,” has been nominated for a Grammy Award 13 times in the last decade but has yet to win one.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj was nominated for 10 Grammy Awards in just five years — between 2010 and 2015. In 2011, the rapper lost best new artist to Bon Iver, and in 2015, she lost all three of her nominated categories to Kendrick Lamar.

Snoop Dogg

Calvin Broadus, better known as Snoop Dogg, has been nominated for 16 Grammys — his first in 1993 — but has never taken home the award. However, he currently holds the record for the most Grammy Award nominations without ever winning one, according to reports.

Queen

The illustrious rock band Queen received just four Grammy nominations and never had a win.

Despite the fact that Queen received their final Grammy nomination in 1980, their music lives on through dedicated fans, including artists such as the Foo Fighters, and the 2018 film “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
