Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana is recovering well after having a medical emergency Tuesday night, causing him to collapse while onstage in Clarkston, Michigan.

While onstage at the Pine Knob Music Theatre for his Miraculous Supernatural 2022 tour, Santana, who is 74 years old, passed out due to heat exhaustion. He was “over-taken by heat exhaustion and dehydration,” according to a statement from his team.

“Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well,” they went on to say.

Santana was removed from the stage on a stretcher and immediately taken to the hospital about 20 minutes after he collapsed. Medical workers asked the audience to direct their prayers to Santana as well.

He has opted to postpone his Wednesday night show in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.

The tour started June 17, and Santana has been supported by Earth, Wind and Fire as his opening act. The tour is currently slated to go until August 27, 2022.

This health scare is not the first for Santana, who experienced an unscheduled health procedure in December, which caused him to cancel multiple shows in Las Vegas at the House of Blues.

“I’m going to be taking time off for a little bit to make sure I replenish, and I rest and I catch up with my health so that when I play for you, I will play the way I’m used to and give you 150 percent,” Santana told his fans after rescheduling the shows.
