Ben Affleck: What You Need to Know

Ben Affleck will be reprising his role as Batman, according to Jason Momoa, in Momoa’s upcoming DC film, “Aquaman and the Last Kingdom.”

Momoa announced the news on his Instagram on Thursday, posing with Affleck who was outfitted as the moody Bruce Wayne.

“REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j,” Momoa wrote in the caption.

Affleck retired from the role in 2019, after he said appearing in the movie had caused stress for him in his personal and professional life. However, it was announced in 2021 that he would appear as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming movie “The Flash,” which was poised to star Ezra Miller and come out in June 2023. Now, it looks like Affleck will be coming back to the DC universe sooner than expected in the James Wan-directed “Aquaman” sequel.

“I showed somebody the Batman script,” Affleck said in a 2020 interview with the New York Times. “They said, ‘I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went through again.”

Affleck’s prospective role in “The Batman” ended up going to Robert Pattinson, who received widespread critical acclaim when the film premiered in 2022.

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will premiere in theaters March 17, 2023.
