You won’t be able to meet your new pet in person, but an Alpharetta animal rescue service is still working to get cats and dogs into their forever homes.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is hosting a virtual pet adoption this weekend and will continue to do so every Saturday until further notice.

The Alpharetta nonprofit will put on the online event Saturday, Jan. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon, according to the Facebook event page.

Interested adopters can visit the website to view a list of more than 100 adoptable dogs and cats. They can also fill out an adoption application, which will be good for an entire year.

A volunteer-based organization, AAUPR is devoted to saving dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in the state. The nonprofit functions through a network of foster homes in the metro Atlanta area.

Recently, AAUPR put out a call for volunteers who can handle a variety of duties for the organization.

“Want to start 2021 by making a difference in the world? Want to save lives from wherever you live? Volunteering with Angels is a great way to do both of those things! There is a spot for every talent and every skill. AND you can volunteer for so many of our positions from anywhere in the country! All you need is a computer and internet,” the Facebook post stated.

Those interested in joining the “community of passionate rescuers” can email the nonprofit.
